ABOUT ME

Hello,

My name is Dan McCarter and I am starting my 8th year of teaching Physical Education.  I am so lucky to be working in a profession that allows me to teach kids to love being active and enjoy all activities. From traditional sports, non-traditional sports and taking advantage of all the fun activities that Colorado has to offer.

I was born in Torrance, California and lived there for a brief time due to my parents not wanting me to become a "surfer bum" (their words not mine).  We moved to beautiful Santa Rosa, California, which is right smack dab in the middle of amazing Sonoma/Napa Valley wine country. In 2006, I returned to Southern California to attend California State University, Long Beach to study Kinesiology with an emphasis in Pedagogy.  In 2011, I married my beautiful wife Melissa. Right after we got married we decided to leave California to pursue our careers in physical therapy and teaching in spectacular Colorado. I have a 5-year-old named Zach who keeps me very busy and entertained. Last year my wife and I welcomed our twin boys Wyatt and Cooper into our world.  We are extremely excited to have three healthy boys in our lives. In my spare time I used to have, I liked playing sports, BBQ, hiking, camping, and traveling the world.

I have a BA and teaching credential from California and Colorado.  I have been working in the teaching field since 2010. I truly love being a part of the student's growth and development. I believe in pushing my students to be great and supporting them in achieving their personal goals.  This year we have a ton planned and we will improve as people and athletes!

I'm looking forward to a great year in P.E.  I have lots of new and exciting things planned this year and can't wait to share my passion for getting and staying active with all of you!
